Kathleen died of heart failure on November 28, 2010 at her home surrounded
by family and friends. She was 63. She lived as she died, fearlessly.
Her life was devoted to public service. She worked for Solano County Mental
Health through its transition to Solano County Health and Social Services.
She was a dedicated volunteer with Upper Solano County Rape Crisis Service
and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Solano County. Kathleen was
a proud democrat and political progressive.
Kathleen's passion for world cultures was expressed through her love of
music, food, art and travel. Her passport contains stamps from 30 countries
on 5 continents. She enjoyed high tea in London, shopping in the Casbah in
Morocco and riding elephants in India.
When not traveling, Kathleen enjoyed her dogs, sewing, gardening and
cooking. Her many nieces, nephews, granddaughters and young friends will
miss their annual handmade pajamas. She hosted wonderful dinner parties and
extended her love of cooking to catering with her close friends. Kathleen
was a self-described news junky, with preferences for NPR and the BBC,
though her guilty pleasure was watching The View.
Kathleen graduated from Cocoa High School and UC Davis. She also attended
Brevard Jr. College and the
University of Florida. She was born in Atlanta, GA, lived in Cocoa, FL,
Bridgefield, CT and moved to Fairfield, CA in 1972.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Rosencrans (David); granddaughters,
Hailey and Abigail Rosencrans of Colorado; her brother, James Cunningham;
and sister, Susan Hogue both of Georgia, and many beloved nieces and
nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Burdella
Cunningham of Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 3rd at 10 AM at Grace
Episcopal Church in Fairfield, CA. Burial will be at Rockville Cemetery. All
who knew Kathleen are welcome.
